ASSIGNMENT ONE FOR MIRANDA ROMERO: Total Of Six Lessons
Lesson #1 For Miranda: ESSAY ON ART OF MUSIC VIDEO. You are just getting started in your exposure to the cultural arts. This video is an important lesson for an artist. Lesson One is to interpret what the message is, and how it applies to the learning experience at Music And Art For Youth. Describe in an essay (200 words or less) what you have learned in this music video; and how it might change the way that you think about art. Assignment was prepared on June 6, 2017.
MIRANDA'S RESPONSE COMPLETED: Lesson #1- The Flowers Are Red music video was a perfect example of how important freedom of self expression is, and how it can influence the way we think and contribute to the environment around us. This applies especially to children and youth, when they are innocently starting to understand themselves and the world around them. The importance of self expression is deeply rooted with what Music and Art For Youth Program promotes because it continually encourages freedom of self expression, bettering the community around Ventura County. Personally, self expression is not essential just in art form, but in every other aspect of life to continue to grow and evolve as a human race. So when we individually see things differently than others, it's not a flaw but a gift, and as a community, we need to nourish that not just in younger generations, but people of all ages.

Lesson #2 For Miranda: MEMORIZE THE FOLLOWING QUOTE & AUTHOR. "What adults call wrong in a young person's art, is the most beautiful and most precious. I value highly those things done by young people. They are the first and purest source of artistic creation." Franz Cisek
MIRANDA'S RESPONSE COMPLETED: Lesson #2- "What adults call wrong in a young person's art, is the most beautiful and most precious. I highly value those things done by young people. They are the first and purest source of artistic creation."- Franz Cisek

Lesson #3 For Miranda: RESEARCH THE AUTHOR OF THE QUOTE ON- LINE. Study about the author and provide a two page research paper. Student must be able to explain about the author in student's own words. And specify what the author's contribution was to the world. What impact & difference did this author make to mankind?
MIRANDA'S RESPONSE COMPLETED: Lesson #3- Franz Cisek was born in 1865 and was best known for being a painter and a reformer of art education. This journey started when he was a student at the Academy Of Fine Arts Of Vienna in 1885, when he was living with a family who had children. These children would come and spend time with Franz and he would encourage them to paint and express themselves, which soon sparked an interest in actually creating his first Juvenile Art Classes for children. Franz Cisek would encourage these children to freely express themselves because he saw the potential they held and just needed the resources to explore their art. He was one of the first painters to start this Child Art Movement in Vienna in 1897. Widening his methods of art, his former students, Erika Clien and Emmy Crasso, soon began to spread the teachings of Franz in parts of India and the United States. In 1904, he became a director in the Department of Experimentation and Research at the Vienna School of Applied Arts. His children's art began to be exhibited in the British Institute for Industrial Art in Kingsbridge, England. Franz Cisek raised awareness and enlightenment in the most important yet challenging part of our human race community: children. What was amazing about him was his passion he had for things people don't usually take the patience to understand and nourish. He began to shine a light on what mattered in the world and how we could slightly make it better in his most authentic point of view. He nourished those who had potential, and gave them a platform to start with free from limitations and space to understand themselves. The more we understand ourselves, the more we might be able to help and understand those around us. He is a great example of what we should be like, whether we are painters, builders, teachers, etc,. He used his talent to help others in his own unique way and that 's the truth behind what our purpose is in life is called to be. This practice of helping children in creating this Art Movement was not the easiest, though. When he first introduced this program to authorities, they were not easily swayed. But within time, Franz Cisek did not give up, and kept putting his work into practice , which eventually got him the opportunity to pursue this movement. And in his practice, Franz didn't just paint with children but let them explore many different materials of art. He would say to his children, "From every material, something creative can be made." He brought hope and self-discovery to children by saying that even through the tiniest things, you are creative enough to make something out of it. That's what is legendary about Franz Cisek, and as we keep this simple method alive, we can create hope, light, and faith, through this human race we live in and do what we all were called to do: spreading good through the world. Excellent Miranda!

MIRANDA'S RESPONSE COMPLETED: Lesson #4-
1. Jhene Aiko - W.A.Y.S >>>Click Song Here This song brings a message of peace even in the midst of disasters. It rises up questions about my own philosophy towards life in a positive way. I aspire to brings light in life through music like how this artist does.
2. Jhene Aiko - Eternal Sunshine >>>Click Song Here The first verse of this song is my favorite verse. "Is it strange for me to say that if I were to die today, there's not a thing that I would change, I lived well.." because it holds solitude in the message. No matter what happens, this person is always going to remember the good things, because that's what she would want for anyone that she loves.
3. Jhene Aiko - The pressure >>>Click Song Here This song reveals the truth behind the feelings of when you're under pressure, and teaches that no matter what: just always try to keep it truthful and honest.
4. John Mayer - Gravity >>>Click Song Here This songs expresses pain and having gravity being the symbolism of as if how he feels. But at the end he keeps saying, "just keep me where the light is", being desperate for light and hope.
5. R
egina Spektor- Laughing With >>>Click Song Here This songs brings light to how much we don't really realize how much we need God until God is all we have, in a very witty yet melancholy way.6. Lauren Hill- Zion >>>Click Song Here This song is very relatable to me because it expresses her love for her son. Everyone thought her havign a son wouldnt work out, but when she gave birth to him, all her happiness suddenly became based on her son.
7. Corrine Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On >>>Click Song Here This song is very optimistic in the times of insecurity. She brings confidence, comfort, and light in this song.
8. Cold play- Yellow >>>Click Song Here This song shows light in another person he's talking to. He's glorifying this person to bring encouragement and love. That his love for this person is like the color Yellow. light and hope.
9. Black Eyed Peas - Where is the Love? >>>Click Song Here This song brings truth, pain, and arises questions of our own human race and what we should be taking action in as terms of loving each other and bringing peace to the world filled with pain.
10. Kendrick Lamar- i >>>Click Song Here This song is much more of a rap song than any of my other songs i chose, but the message it brought was very clear. I love this song because it talks about loving yourself. loving ourselves is the first step to loving others and the only way to love ourselves is to first love God.

Lesson #5 For Miranda: TRANSPOSE YOUR TWO EXISTING ORIGINAL SONGS TO A WORD DOCUMENT. Line out the poem paragraphs to the best of your ability. Create the word document using the title of the poem, along with the date that the poem was written.
MIRANDA'S RESPONSE COMPLETED: Lesson #5a- HER FIRST SONG:
Crooked SmileAs I try showing my heart,
My face is shamed to the floor,
Flipping through the pages of a magazine,
I see Beauty queens whose smiles gleem,
Hesitance has me hiding the warmth of my soul,
Holding back like im no longer in control,
But there's a subtle light glowing in the dark,
telling me it's okay to show your heart,
see the beauty lies within
you dont have to be thick or thin,
i know you havent been happy in a while,
but for now, show me your crooked smile,
keep your heart wide open
Never let it go out of style,
I mend what is broken,
So keep showin your crooked smile.
MIRANDA'S RESPONSE COMPLETED: Lesson #5b- HER SECOND SONG:
Hold OnWhen the world is loud,
but your heart wants peace,
and everything seems like its on repeat,
this beat is tired but it never sleeps,
then there's something at the end you can't see,
this room is quiet but it just a start for with what's to come,
the train is on its way,
so Hold On.

Lesson #6 For Miranda: VIEW THE MIRANDA ROMERO VIDEO INTERVIEW. View your music video interview at the WAV as a gauge for what your expectations are within your student scholarship. There will be other video & show performances where you will be in a spontaneous mode in front of camera. Most young people do not get an opportunity to see themselves on camera. Studying the video will give you a lesson for experience in the future.

DIRECTOR’S REPORT FOR MIRANDA ROMERO (notes to Board Of Directors)
FINAL ASSESSMENT FOR ASSIGNMENT ONE: Miranda is serious for being connected in the arts. She is making MAAFY scholarship a priority for her renewed identity to express her inward gifts. I have determined that her scholarship is on an advanced course of tremendous potential in the current learning curve that will provide her success in all her endeavors. I have also determined that Miranda will continue with MAAFY well beyond the scholarship age when she turns 20 years old in December 2017. Based so far in a position for consideration on our Artist Development expansion program that is listed on our web site (I spoke to her about this on Saturday June 18, 2017 at WAV DaDa with the MAAFY girls) , and an excellent candidate later for a MAFFY intern.
