On Location at Bell Arts

Lucy Jane is our 14
year old art scholarship student that interviewed professional
artist, Lynn LeTouneau at Bell Arts in
VENTURA, CALIFORNIA USA.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Lynn LeTourneau
She says: "painting abstractly connects me to an intuitive, emergent
source. A visual language of personal and archetypal images will
appear bridging the inner and outer worlds. I rely on my heart, body
and instincts to guide me. I discern, make choices and the painting
mirrors back to me how to proceed. Applying rhythmic layers of color
onto canvas, I make use of a variety of tools such as the palette
knife, rubber tips, pastel, acrylic and oil paint. The surface
itself can tell a story as much as the colors that are used.
These paintings are reflections that mirror our commonality. This is
where the real magic occurs and is deeply satisfying when the viewer
connects to my art and understands yes, I know what this feels like.
"Angel Wing" expresses the dynamic experience of a wing opening,
ready to fly and soar over our personal worlds to witness a more
comprehensive view. Master painters such as Henri Matisse, Willem De
Kooning, Gerhard Richter and Zhu Dequn have been inspirational for
my artwork. Harmonic playful and contextual interplays of color
begin to demonstrate the infinite stream of information in the
abstract universe of paint and canvas."
